Big Boy Bed

Helping dad bring the boxes in OR just having fun with daddy!
Brycen helping put the new bed together.

Tired of waiting so taking time to play with trains.

The final product. It has a row of three drawers and a pull out trundle bed below. We have small rooms so working to make the best of our space. Now Mom just has to redecorate!

Brycen running to see the completed bed!!

Checking out what is in the drawers

Finally asleep!!!

Brycen has made pretty easy transitions in his life. We have been very lucky! Things like moving to the crib when he was a baby, dropping a nap, getting rid of the bottle, getting rid of the paci, potty training. BUT this big boy bed has been a little more difficult. We have had difficulties getting him to lay down for naps or at night.
We are working to get him in a bed before traveling for football or holidays. He does not do well in cribs other than his and he is to long for a pack and play. So that is why we have moved on to the "Big Boy Bed!"

Summer 2010

What have we been up to?
We attempted to take Brycen to see Toy Story 3. We (or should I say I) should have known better. He doesn't really like to watch much tv, he was off his normal day schedule, and the previews were way to long. We watched about 40 mins of the movie but he wanted to talk, walk around, and move back and forth from Brad and I. We left so the others around us were not annoyed. We will try another movie in a year or so.

Waiting for the movie to start!

The first preview is on! The kid didn't even want popcorn!

Fourth of July Church Outfit!

Last week we were Skyping with our cousin Wilson and he showed us his paintings he had done. Since it has been very rainy we decided to paint too.
I was going to get him a big old t shirt but then I realized he only has small old t shirts. So we used our home depot apron.

Look there! "Big Boy Pants" Brycen decided last week he wanted to wear underware. He is doing pretty good. A few accidents but enjoying being a big boy!

Brad and I had our five year anniversary. Seems like we just got married. We enjoyed dinner out at Mr. B's in Rogers and some bowling!

Family Branson Trip- Don't have many pictures because my camera is no good (got a new one today though).
Riding the train with Daddy.
Giving the train robber money!
We are loving doing fun things with Brycen this summer. Can't believe he is so big! He loves playing golf, driving his big truck, playing with his friends and cousin Landon, and TALKING!!!

A Little Scare

On Monday, (mom's first day off work for summer and dad was home cause he had an appointment) Brycen went down for a nap as normal. He woke about 50 mins into his normal 2-3 hour nap. He was screaming. Brad tried to comfort him and he did not want to be held. He was pulling his legs up into his chest like he had stomach pains and rolling on the floor. He would stand up for a few steps and then lay back on the floor. There was no communication with us. He would not answer our questions or do what we said.
I called the pediatric clinic and left a message for the nurse. While waiting for a return call this crying and "odd" behavior continued. After 30 mins we just thought we would take him to the pediatrician. When Brad picked him up he went limp and eyes rolled back and started looking like he was passing out. We quickly woke him up and Brad called the paramedics. While waiting, this limp passing out behavior happened multiple times. The EMT's arrived and he finally spoke. He was still pale, laying on the floor, eyes dialated a little. They checked him out. Heart great! Breathing Great! They gave us permission to drive him to the hospital.
This was our first of I am sure many ER trips during his life.

At the hospital they did an EKG, blood work, urine samples, and stomach X-rays and everything looked great. Over the four hours at the hospital, Brycen returned to a normal boy. He started talking, flirting, putting stickers on his nose, and doing things two year olds do. The staff noticed these changes as well.

Since we were all clear and he was acting fine they let us go. Our paperwork said he passed out due to an unknown pain. We talked to the cardiologist and he was comfortable with the results and we will follow up with the pediatrician next week.
We have done a little research on our own. Maybe major gas type pain?? Or Night Terrors??
If it is a night terror I guess we went to far to have him checked out but it was sure odd not normal behavior. Anyone have experiences with toddlers and night terrors?
