A Little Scare

On Monday, (mom's first day off work for summer and dad was home cause he had an appointment) Brycen went down for a nap as normal. He woke about 50 mins into his normal 2-3 hour nap. He was screaming. Brad tried to comfort him and he did not want to be held. He was pulling his legs up into his chest like he had stomach pains and rolling on the floor. He would stand up for a few steps and then lay back on the floor. There was no communication with us. He would not answer our questions or do what we said.
I called the pediatric clinic and left a message for the nurse. While waiting for a return call this crying and "odd" behavior continued. After 30 mins we just thought we would take him to the pediatrician. When Brad picked him up he went limp and eyes rolled back and started looking like he was passing out. We quickly woke him up and Brad called the paramedics. While waiting, this limp passing out behavior happened multiple times. The EMT's arrived and he finally spoke. He was still pale, laying on the floor, eyes dialated a little. They checked him out. Heart great! Breathing Great! They gave us permission to drive him to the hospital.
This was our first of I am sure many ER trips during his life.

At the hospital they did an EKG, blood work, urine samples, and stomach X-rays and everything looked great. Over the four hours at the hospital, Brycen returned to a normal boy. He started talking, flirting, putting stickers on his nose, and doing things two year olds do. The staff noticed these changes as well.

Since we were all clear and he was acting fine they let us go. Our paperwork said he passed out due to an unknown pain. We talked to the cardiologist and he was comfortable with the results and we will follow up with the pediatrician next week.
We have done a little research on our own. Maybe major gas type pain?? Or Night Terrors??
If it is a night terror I guess we went to far to have him checked out but it was sure odd not normal behavior. Anyone have experiences with toddlers and night terrors?

The "Birthday Party"

We had Brycen's "golf" party at Granny Lu's house in Conway. It was warm enough we got to swim and play some golf.

The golf cake that was not so cute!

Brycen got REAL golf clubs.

Grandpa John's Birthday Visit

Before Brycen's birthday Grandpa John, Aunt Coreen, and Aunt Victoria came to visit us in Arkasnas.

They brought Brycen lots of "goodies,"

and even got him a real bike! He is almost tall enough to ride it. Another 2-3 months and he will be good.

We went to Fun City!

A round of mini golf

Down the "big" slide
We enjoyed our visit with The Norwood Clan. Wish they lived closer.

Happy 2nd Birthday Brycen

Brycen had a small "Elmo" birthday party at Mrs. Maida's house with his school friends. When we pulled up last Thursday she had the Happy Birthday Banner hanging outside. I made Brycen pose with his waffle, milk cup, and half asleep.

Brycen's Elmo cupcake cake. He always wants this at Sam's so he finally got it!
It was yummy!

Getting ready to blow out the candles!

Look at that happy face after he blew out his candles!

Enjoying his treats with his friends.

Posing with one of his favorite sitters, Mrs. Maida.

Heart Check-up

We have been so blessed and continue to praise God for the miracle He continues to work in Brycen!!
Brycen had his 6 month heart check-up yesterday. He got a GREAT report!! His bloodflow is great and his original surgical repair continues to remain open and grow with him. He is doing so well that he doesn't have to go back for another check-up for 1 year!!

Here are a couple of pictures during his echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart). He did so good being still.

First Trip to Branson

This past weekend Laney and I took a mom and son trip to Branson. Unfortunately it rained more than expected. We spent Saturday at the indoor putt putt golf, a little shopping, and one quick hour at Silver Dollar City between the rain showers.

Brycen watching his putt.
Landon stopping for a picture.

Swimming at the hotel pool!

On Sunday we went back to the park for a bit.
Riding the frogs at Silver Dollar City! I think mom had more fun!

The boys on the ladybugs!

Riding the train, a boys favorite!

Brycen really interested in the train robbery!

Last but not least, we went to the animal petting zoo. Brycen LOVES animals!

Touch a Truck

On Saturday we took Brycen to "Touch a Truck" in Rogers. There were all kinds of trucks to look at, pretend to drive, and honk the horns. Brycen stood in line to get in a lot of them but then didn't always want to get in. Brad and I should be awarded with "parents of the year" once again. It wasn't raining at our house but it was raining and cold there and we had no coat or umbrella for B. Sure glad I put him in long sleeves. Some kids had their winter coats on!

About to tour the "Tailgate" bus!

Staying dry on a passenger bus!

Driving the John Deere

When we left, B had to ride the horse!

We also said good bye to daddy's truck Friday. Brycen keeps asking for it to come back. I think he is really only worried about his Razorback Music that he listens to in Dad's car!
